Ok, I really feel like ranting about people. Today was a good day but on few occasions it was ruined by certain people’s annoying behaviors. For one, when I went to a restaurant with my family and the people sitting next to our table were staring at us. By staring I don’t mean quick glances and occasional staring, I mean they were watching us from the moment we ordered our food, waited for it, and during the moment we were eating! It is annoying! Who could eat like this?
They didn’t stop until we had to remind them that they were being annoying. We may have been rude but it’s considered very impolite to stare at someone as though they were freaks! Besides, we were just eating like everyone else! We dress like everyone else, talk, act and eat like everyone else, so why stare? I don’t regret telling them off because for the longest time I have been followed around, had people stare and give me looks and at times point and say things about me. And I can tell you how much it sucks to be in that position where everyone treats you like you’re a freak!
I know that if you dress very odd you will end up being the center of attention. Okay, I get it. But even if you dress slightly different? I mean, all I wore today was a white shirt covered by a black hoodie, a blue cap, and black pants. That’s it. Well, there’s my hair that’s short and blondish. Not the typical Arab girl appearance. I was walking in a mall, minding my own business, when a girl from a bunch of girls all clad in abayas pointed at me and said out loud, “Bashayer! (One of the girls’ name) Bashayer, look!”
I hoped it wasn’t about me, but my hopes were dashed when I turned my head and all of the girls’ eyes were on me. I quickly turned my head away and scowled but in my mind I said, ‘the hell are you looking?!’
Some people get on my nerves. This is why I get disgusted with people I come across! But what can I expect from people who’s parents, instead of teaching them what they should or shouldn’t do, sit by the hookah all day long?
